Art Therapy

A creative and therapeutic way to express emotions and support wellbeing.

What can Art Therapy help with?

Art therapy can help people process emotions and express feelings that may be difficult to put into words. It may support:

Anxiety & stress management, emotional expression & processing, confidence & self-esteem, coping with change and uncertainty*

What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of creative expression that helps people explore their emotions in a safe, supportive environment. You don’t need any artistic experience—this is about expression, not artistic skill. It may involve drawing, painting, collage, or other creative activities.

How long does it take?

Sessions typically last an hour. They are one-to-one sessions with a trained therapist and taken online via a zoom link. Following a taster session, you will be offered a block of 6 weekly sessions.

What can I expect?

You’ll be guided through creative exercises in a relaxed and non-judgmental space. There’s no right or wrong way to take part—it’s about expressing yourself in a way that feels right for you.

You will be invited to use visual images to explore your experience and feelings related to your cancer journey. You might want to talk only, talk whilst you make art or reflect on your art after completion. How you work is your choice and to suit your needs, and the therapist will support you in your decision.

Some basic art materials and a sketchbook are needed. There may be additional items you might choose to work with. If you create 3D work, you may need a box or cupboard space to keep work safe.

What do we offer?

We offer 6 online 1-to-1 sessions led by a qualified art therapist, providing a safe and supportive environment for creative expression, to help you explore issues related to your cancer experience.
