Volunteering with My Cancer My Choices

We couldn’t do what we do without our wonderful volunteers. If you’d like to find out more about sharing your time, energy, expertise, enthusiasm or ideas, please get in contact.

Current volunteering vacancies:

Meeter Greeter for 3.5 hours per week in our Charvil Hub

THERAPIST

Hands-on help for people with cancer.

The caring touch, support and understanding you provide is often all that it takes to help a person with cancer feel like they’re taking control of their health and wellbeing again.

To become a volunteer therapist you’ll need to have a recognised qualification, and have completed the NHS volunteer checks, which we will organise.

MEETER GREETER

Providing the warm welcome that puts our guests at ease.

Often the first contact visitors have with My Cancer My Choices, our meeter greeters help to take bookings and guide visitors through what to expect when they come for a treatment.

You don’t need specialist knowledge, just time, warmth and understanding.

FUNDRAISER

Finding the means to help us keep going.

We wouldn’t be able to offer the support that we do without the time, energy and enthusiasm of our fundraisers.

Volunteering with us

Training & Time

We provide all volunteers with NHS cancer patient pathway training, and an induction with experienced Therapists or Meeter Greeters before they start with us.

People are busy. Life is hectic. We understand that and appreciate any time you can give us, however great or small, it really does all help.

Regular updates

We have Volunteer training days and peer support groups to enhance our knowledge and understanding of what it’s like to live with cancer.

Therapists also receive continuous professional development to enhance the ways they help people with cancer.

Understanding & Flexibility

Some of our volunteers are currently living with cancer, or have personal experience of it.

We really do understand what you’re going through, and are as flexible and supportive as we can be.
